Hippo retreated US10 cents to US110 cents, Meikles and TA eased US0,50 cents to trade at US20 cents and US7 cents respectively, while Barclays opened softer, going down US0,10 cents to close at US3,10 cents.
ART lost US0,05 cents to US0,45 cents, Innscor shed US0,03 cents to trade at US83 cents and Medtech slipped US0,02 cents to close at 0,02 cents.
But the mining index had a change of fortunes, gaining 2,36 points or 3,69 percent to close at 66,24 points. Hwange added a cent to US12 cents and Bindura Nickel, on the veAge of resuming full operations, was up US0,22 cents to settle at US2,53 cents.
Falgold was offered lower at US14 cents while RioZim was unchanged at previous trading levels. The gold mining firm closed Friday’s session offered at US45 cents.
A total of 8,4 million shares were traded yesterday at a value of US$1,4 million against 8,2 million shares valued at US$2,3 million realised last Friday.
Statistics from the ZSE show that Pearl, Bindura, Econet, Fidelity and Barclays were the most traded by volume while BAT, Econet, Pearl, Bindura and Fidelity led the most traded stocks in terms of the value of trades.
There was a special bargain of 1 030 118 Econet shares yesterday. The deal was carried out at a price of US70 cents per share and the total turnover for the special bargain deal was US$721 082,62. Econet closed at US69,71 cents.
There was a total of 5 342 204 foreign purchases valued at US$840 000 compared with foreign sales of 1 030 118 shares, executed at a value of US$721 082,62.
At the close of trading on Friday, weekly turnover was about US$7,4 million on a volume of 33,49 million shares, lower than last week’s US$10,7 million on about 80,07 million shares.
Stocks opened the week with only two counters trading in the positive while 14 shares traded lower with the rest unchanged, as the industrial index slumped into the red.
On the day, most heavyweights traded lower, as the mainstream index dropped 1 percent to 185,93 points while the mining index fell 3,6 percent to 64,79 points, closing below the January 2 level of 65,12 points for the first time this year.
Significant volumes in Delta Corporation, the largest company in terms of value, and Econet Wireless helped the total market daily turnover to close above the psychological US$1 million level at US$1,28 million on a volume of nearly three million shares.
