Delta and Old Mutual were up US3,12 cents and US2 cents respectively, pushing the mainstream industrial index 0,84 percentage points up to 155,76 points.
Despite RioZim trading US2 cents firmer, a lower quote on fellow resources counter Hwange resulted in the mining index easing by 2,19 percent to 91,61 points.
The market had opened the week on a high note with turnover of US$3 122 596 after trades in mobile phone counter Econet contributed more than 80 percent of that value, as beverage maker Delta Corporation and Innscor chipped in with reasonable figures.
The industrial index traded in positive territory, largely as a result of Delta that recouped US2,60 cents, putting on a marginal 0,70 points to close at 154,06 points.
Likewise, minings also traded in the black on the back of a US1 cent gain in Hwange to close the day’s session at 90,63 points after adding 0,36 percent.
But Tuesday had set the record value after turnover soared to US$4 416 340 on the back of heavy trade in Econet where a bookover of 600 000 shares was declared.
Small capitalisation counters Cairns, CFI, Mashold, Turnall and ZPI — also witnessed reasonable trade volumes of more than a million shares each.
However, the industrial index closed the day in negative territory, 0,31 percent down on the back of small losses in AICO, Innscor and seed producer Seed Co.
But Hwange continued its purple patch, adding US2 cents to lift the mining index 2,92 percent firmer at 93,27 points.
On Wednesday, Econet continued to dominate trade, contributing more than 80 percent of the day’s of US$3 055 666 value traded despite trading unchanged US480 cents, after losing US21c in Friday’s trading.
The telecoms firm’s share price took significant knocks despite it maintaining its strong financial performance, but maybe failed to excite investors accustomed to the more than 5 percent after-tax profit growth it registered in the interim to August 2012.
After-tax profit increased marginally in the interim from US$73 million in the prior year comparative period to US$78,9 million in the 2013 first half, but revenue had risen a modest 17 percent to US$339 million.
Bellwether stock Delta Corporation had firmed US2,39 cents in the day’s trading, dragging the industrial index 0,58 percent in the black as Bindura traded flat while RioZim was bid higher at 65 cents resulting in the mining index rising 0,42 percent to close the day’s trading session at 93,66 points.
