ZTA ropes in SA gospel guru

Dube would be sharing the stage with local gospel artistes among them Baba naAmai Charamba, Fungisai Zvakavapano and Mudiwa.
ZTA chief executive Karikoga Kaseke said Dube had already signed the contract.

“We have already agreed with the musician and he had since signed his contract. He will be performing at the carnival,” he said.
The carnival is slated for late this month. The high-profile Pastor Dube is well known in gospel music circles having started out in 1986 when he recorded a single, “Holy Spirit”, which was a cross-over hit song and chart buster on local radio stations and sold over 25 000 units in the year of its release in South Africa alone.

Pastor Dube is the owner of Dube Connection, a music label licensed to Sony and Spirit Music. Through the label he employs his other aptitudes as songwriter, author and producer, discovering and developing young talent.

The carnival has generated significant interest among local, regional and international participants.
“We are now giving it a national outlook and next year the carnival will be staged in Bulawayo,” he said.

“Over 100 groups have registered with us to participate at the carnival.

In Nigeria they had 34 groups and in our case the response is overwhelming considering we did not run an advert. We thank the media for the support,” said Kaseke.
However, Kaseke said they were going to trim the number to improve on logistics.
