ZIMPAPERS Television Network (ZTN) has clinched another high profile sports deal with the country’s leading boxing stable, Deltaforce, which will see them broadcast their bouts live.

The Zimpapers-owned television network has managed to sign another partnership after they also had one with the Premier Soccer League last year.

The deal was signed at Zimpapers headquarters in Harare yesterday.

Under the arrangement, ZTN are expected to broadcast the bouts for Deltaforce, by livestreaming them on their growing online television platforms.

The first bouts are expected to go on air in a fortnight when Kudakwashe “Take Money” Chiwandire take on Zambian Cathrine Phiri in a rescheduled WBC women’s super-bantamweight title fight on February 27 in Lusaka, Zambia.

After the Chiwandire match, whose logistics are still under review, they will be coverage of the Pound for Pound Series on March 4.

Boxing fans will be able to watch the matches online using their various gadgets.

Deltaforce executive officer, Clyde Musonda, said he is happy that they now have a partner who will broadcast live their events.

“I am very happy that we are now managing to take boxing to the people. There was a challenge on the coverage of the sport and the coming on board of ZTN, as our partner, is good news. It is a milestone agreement, as the negotiations went on well,” said Musonda.

ZTN head of channel, Morris Mkwate, said the partnership is a step in the right direction for the television network whose duty is to inform and create content for the general public.

“We are happy to have had signed another big sport partnership with Deltaforce who I understand is one of the biggest boxing and mixed martial arts stable. The partnership will start now and we will be on the ground to cover all their bouts,” said Mkwate.
