Zulu crushes rivals in Kwekwe Golf showdown

ELTON Zulu was on fire at the weekend, storming to a dominant eight-shot victory at the 2025 Midlands Amateur Golf Championship held at Kwekwe Golf Club.

The scratch golfer was in a league of his own, finishing with an impressive one-under-par 215 after three rounds. Zulu left the competition in the dust, with Cosmas Siyakobo and Anderson Phiri both settling for second place on seven-over-par 223.

Zulu set the tone early with a sizzling 71 in the opening round, but it was his second round 69, the best of the tournament, that sent a clear message the title was his to lose.

Despite a closing round of 75, the job was already done. Zulu walked off the 18th green as the undisputed king of Midlands amateur golf.

Siyakobo tried to keep pace with rounds of 77, 73 and 73, while Phiri posted scores of 75, 74 and 74, but it simply wasn’t enough to catch the in-form Zulu.

All eyes now shift to the Lowveld Pro-Am, the country’s second biggest tournament after the Zimbabwe Open, teeing off this Thursday at Triangle and Chiredzi Golf Clubs.
