A ZIMBABWE United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) bus conductor lost cash, and two cellphones, to robbers on Sunday.

In a statement, police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the three suspects, who are on the run, had been offered a lift.

“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of theft, which occurred on Sunday at around 0530 hours in Cowdray Park,” said Ass Comm Nyathi.

“The three unknown suspects had been offered a lift, in a ZUPCO kombi, when they snatched a satchel with company cash amounting to $30 000, US$30 and two cellphones from the conductor before vanishing into the darkness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Asst Comm Nyathi said police in Mukumbura, conducting motorised patrols along the Harare-Mukumbura Road, swiftly reacted to a tip-off and arrested Ruth Rundoringisa and Musafare Murambirira at Kaitano turn-off for smuggling 789 bags of charcoal.
