from February 20 to 23.
Zusa president, Liberty Maidza, leads an executive that includes Tsitsi Muziwa as secretary-general, Sibonine Madhodha (treasurer), Petros Musiwacho (development officer) and Tedious Ruzvidzo (marketing officer).
Maidza believes the strategic plan will revitalise sport at the colleges.
“The aim is to make the association become viable in the eyes of the public and stakeholders.
“There is need to have a bridge between schools and clubs, which we will make sure we have created.
“We want clubs to come and tap talent from universities as there are good athletes there as well.
“We also look forward to having many tournaments and running programmes aimed at developing sport,” said Maidza
Maidza believes the wealth of sporting talent at colleges remains untapped.
“There is going to be a track and field championship that will start our season at the University of Zimbabwe grounds.
“We major in several sporting disciplines which include basketball, darts, karate, chess, tennis, table tennis, netball and soccer. The association has got 11 universities. We also want to change the calendar so that we are able to hold the events all-year round. Sometimes we are affected by the calendar because the universities have different timetables for exams and semester breaks.
“It is also our aim to have each university team getting affiliation to a provincial sports association,” Maidza said.
