ZUVA Petroleum has invested about $20 million towards rebranding its service stations around the country to a local brand that identifies with the local market amid revelations that the company has increased its workforce to 120 employees in Bulawayo.
Speaking at the launch of a rebranded Zuva Service Station in Bulawayo on Friday, chief executive officer Mr Bethwell Gumbo said the company had previously faced challenges with people failing to recognise their brand making Zuva less recognisable.
He said the rebranding exercise was meant to give assurance to its customers and assure them of quality service.
“Zuva was born out of a combination of BP and Shell service stations hence we have tried to create a brand that builds on predecessors’ brands but with a local flair that will make us recognisable to our customers. Branding is an important aspect to building trust,” said Mr Gumbo.
He said during the rebranding exercise, the company had decided to keep the name Zuva as it depicts pride of being truly Zimbabwean with at least 1 200 families being supported through the franchise.
He said state-of-the-art pumping equipment had been installed at all their service stations as well as the introduction of Diesel 50 — an advanced petroleum fuel.
Speaking on the new colours and logo, Mr Gumbo said green showed that Zuva was environmental friendly as it was close to nature.
“Green is the colour of balance and it represents an evolution from being a scorching sun while silver represents prestige and wealth. Our tagline ‘Energy everyday’ shows the service we intend to bring as earning customer satisfaction is imperative to us,” he said.
He said the rebranding exercise followed a period of expansion.
Zuva Petroleum has 12 service stations in Bulawayo employing over 120 people and so far two have been rebranded including the Pumula one.
“In the next two months we would have finished rebranding all the service stations in Bulawayo,” said Mr Gumbo.
Speaking on plans for the future, Mr Gumbo said the company was in the process of introducing new products that include a fuel guard and expanding its network.
The company has 72 service sites nationwide and 10 depots including aviation depots and liquefied petroleum gas storage facilities.
According to the company, they aim to empower the communities they operate in having opened a share ownership scheme giving 10 percent to the community.
Bulawayo provincial administrator Ms Khonzani Ncube who stood in for Minister of State Nomthandazo Eunice Moyo, said Government was committed to developing the petroleum industry.
“The objective is to use cleaner energy which is friendly to the environment. We appeal to the community to embrace this new brand that is working on introducing products like Diesel 50 which are environment friendly,” she said.
