TRIANGLE FC head coach Biggie Zuze, is under pressure after his side suffered a humiliating 5-1 loss to ZPC Kariba at home last Sunday.
But he has remained defiant and is still enjoying the backing of his bosses.Zuze will this weekend share the misery pie with pointless Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi when he travels to the capital to fulfil their season’s seventh fixture.
With supporters divided over Triangle’s new signings, this weekend Zuze has to prove a point that when he offloaded players like Limited Chikafa and Norman Togara to ZPC Kariba, bringing players like Praise Tonha from relegated Monomotapa he wasn’t just creating jobs for his former players but rather bringing better talent to the Lowveld.
Frustrated by the results some fans booed and denounced Zuze through songs.
Triangle FC chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze however said the defeat did not create a rift between the executive and Zuze.
“We are still behind Zuze and we believe good results will come our way. Consider that our team played Caps United on Thursday and then ZPC Kariba on Sunday meaning the boys did not have enough preparatory time as they travelled from Harare on Friday with only Saturday for training,” said the chairman.
Zuze said his charges are geared to find the winning formula boosted by the return of solid defender Chasten Ndongonda who witnessed the ZPC Kariba massacre from the terraces due to injury.
“We felt that our defence was weakened when Chasten Ndongonda got injured during the Caps United game two weeks ago. On the ZPC Kariba match, we conceded two quick goals in just two minutes just because of lack of concentration in the defence. But now with the return of Chasten our defence is stable,” said Zuze.
Triangle has this season missed three penalties at home, two against Chicken Inn and one recently against ZPC.
“We can’t afford to continue missing penalties. However, the boys are also working very hard on penalties and I hope with the drills we are undertaking we will make no mistakes,” added Zuze.
Triangle have managed to collect maximum points once this season when they beat rivals Chiredzi FC 3-1 at Gibbo Stadium sharing spoils with Chicken Inn in a match which ended 1-1.
