Sikhumbuzo Moyo in Bulawayo
TRIANGLE United will begin their pre-season training under assistant coach and former Dynamos midfielder Biggie Zuze in a sign that the Lowveld club is resigned to losing head coach Kelvin Kaindu.
The Zambian is believed to have agreed terms with Bulawayo-based gold miners How Mine, who are set to unveil him as their new man soon, although Triangle United are adamant that he still has a contract that expires in December this year.
Triangle United chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze could not say whether or not Kaindu will be returning to the Lowveld this season.
“Zuze will take care of our pre-season. We haven’t finalised the issue of the head coach as we still have a contract with Kaindu, although he is yet to report for work. He is our coach contractually and we expect him to report for duty, but at the moment Zuze will take care of the team’s workouts,” said Matikinyidze.
Kaindu joined Triangle United towards the end of the 2014 season as technical advisor to Zuze and assumed the role of head coach last year, guiding them through a good run in the first half of the season during which they were touted as championship contenders.
However, as was the case with his stay at Highlanders, Kaindu struggled in the second half of the season, winning just four matches out of 15 as Triangle United finished fourth, 12 points behind winners Chicken Inn.
Kaindu is believed to have agreed personal terms with How Mine where he will take along with him his trusted lieutenants Bekithemba Ndlovu and Tembo Chuma.
According to sources, he has signed a three-year deal with the gold miners.
The same sources also revealed that the Zambian has recommended the signing of former Gunners and Dynamos’ striker Quadr Amin on a two-year deal. How Mine chairman Paul Mac Andrew remained coy on the identity of their new coach yesterday.
“We have some documents that he needs to sign first then we will let the world know. It won’t be proper for me to reveal his identity before he signs those documents,” said Mac Andrew.
