ZVA to hold beach volleyball course

Sports Reporter
THE Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) will hold a three-day elementary beach volleyball course starting today at Masotsha High School. Kenneth Kondo, ZVA second vice-president for development, will facilitate the course. Beach volleyball is mainly played in Harare where it took root after an exhibition at the Zimbabwe National Youth Games in Marondera in 2010.

Kondo said the workshop is open to interested individuals although they are specifically targeting secondary schools.

“Beach volleyball has a way of opening more doors for talented individuals and is also reasonably cheaper compared to conventional volleyball,” said Kondo.

He said the Zimbabwe beach volleyball team had qualified for the Africa Games to be staged in Congo Brazzaville in September.

“Qualifying for the Africa Games has motivated us to educate more people about beach volleyball so that we increase the pool from where the national team can be chosen from,” said Kondo.
