amid revelations that he has caught the eye of Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic.
Zvasiya, who plays for Premiership log leaders FC Platinum, was scheduled to fly out to South Africa last night to continue his trial stint at Kaizer Chiefs while a possible deal for a permanent move was being thrashed.
A product of the Aces Youth Academy, Zvasiya has been trying his club at Amakhosi together with Warriors midfielder Justice Majabvi.
But it appears the Soweto giants are likely to settle for Zvasiya amid indications that that Chiefs want to strengthen their defence with the acquisition of a centre back.
Chiefs also appear to have been tracking Zvasiya who is a regular member of the national Under-23 side that fell to South Africa at the last hurdle of the All-Africa Games qualifiers.
Respected football agent Gibson Mahachi, who confirmed yesterday that the defender, who had returned home to fulfil national duty was heading back to Johannesburg, manages both Zvasiya and Majabvi.
“Lincoln is leaving tonight (last night) but I will only have more information later tonight or tomorrow because Bobby Motaung (Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager) was also here.
“But there are indications that they want a centre back and Lincoln could fit that bill.
“I am not sure yet what their position on Justice is like but like I said in the next day or two, things will become a bit clearer,” Mahachi said.
Motaung and Chiefs assistant coach Donald “Ace” Khuse were in the capital earlier on this week and had chance to catch a glimpse of Zvasiya when the FC Platinum player came on as a late substitute in the Warriors 2-0 winning cause in an international friendly against Zambia at Rufaro on Wednesday night.
Sources at Chiefs also told Kick-off.com that the club was interested in Zvasiya despite also having a look at some Ghanaian players.
Although the 2011-12 Absa Premiership began last night, the South African transfer window is still open until August 31.
Vermezovic admitted to KickOff his interest in two of the foreign players who have been training with the club recently.
“Of the three Ghanaians, one guy is very interesting and also from the two Zimbabweans, one guy is a very interesting player. We will see in the next couple of days what we are going to do with them,” Vermezovic said.
Chiefs have three foreign spots open and their Serbian coach told KickOff.com he is mulling over possible additions.
Amakhosi welcomed three Ghanaians to their Naturena village recently, but the trio is back home pending Vermezovic’s decision.
Ashanti Gold defenders Henry Entsir and John Ashong were accompanied by their teammate, striker Yakubu Mohammed and all spent a week at the club.
Immediately after their departure, Zimbabwean duo Majabvi, a midfielder in the mould of Tinashe Nengomasha and centre back Zvasiya arrived to try their luck.
KickOff.com sources have revealed that Zvasiya is the most likely to be offered a deal by the club.
“Zvasiya was back home playing for the national team when they beat Zambia 2-0 on Wednesday (in a friendly international), but he is coming back today to continue training with Chiefs.
“I’m not sure about Majabvi, but he is still training with the team,” the sources said.
There are also indications that Chiefs, whose relationship with Aces Youth Academy has been growing since Knowledge Musona’s arrival at Naturena in 2009 could soon seal a partnership, deal.
Musona made such a huge impact in his two years at Chiefs that the Amakhosi believe they could tap into more talent that is coming out of the Waterfalls-based academy.
Aces Youth Academy director and Zifa board member marketing Nigel Munyati declined to discuss much insisting that discussions on a possible partnership “are still at infancy”.
“There is nothing concrete yet and I should be travelling to South Africa early next week and maybe there after we can able to say something about it,” said Munyati.
