Zvasiya had been on trials at Amakhosi together with midfielder Justice Majabvi.
But at the end of the trial stint, Chiefs’ Serbian coach Vladmir Vermezovic settled for Zvasiya, a centre back, who honed his skills at the Aces Youth Academy.
Zvasiya had joined local Premiership debutants FC Platinum at the start of the year but after some steady performances in the heart of the national Under-23 rearguard, he was always destined for move to a bigger club.
Just like Katsande who was acquired from Ajax Cape Town on Saturday, Zvasiya arrives at Chiefs on a three-year deal. The Naturena-based outfit yesterday confirmed on their website that they have bagged defender Zvasiya and midfielder Katsande.
Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung, who was quoted by the club, expressed his happiness with the signings and added that these were long term signings for the club.
“We signed the two players with the future in mind. We have good relations with Aces and when we were looking for a centre-back they recommended Lincoln. He came through for a trial and we
were happy with what we saw. He is a future prospect for the Club,” Motaung said.
Katsande, a versatile midfielder who is equally at home in a central, holding or attacking role, virtually sealed his move to Chiefs with a man-of-the match performance for Zimbabwe in their international friendly against Zambia at Rufaro last week.
The former Highway and Gunners midfielder also scored his first Warriors goal in the senior team’s 2-0 win over Chipolopolo where he turned on a five star show for the 85 minutes that he was on the ouitch.
Motaung who watched the Warriors international friendly against Zambia described Katsande as a gem.
“I was with Ace Khuse (Chiefs assistant coach) in Zimbabwe and that is where we spotted Willard. We believe that he is going to bring something special to the team,” said Motaung.
Zvasiya has been training with team for the past two weeks, while Katsande joined his new teammates for the first time on Monday.
There also strong indications that Katsande could make his Chiefs debut tonight when they visit Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville in Johannesburg or at the weekend when they play Ajax Cape Town in a MTN8 semi-final. – Sports Reporter/SuperSport
