Zvishavane band thrills @ Book Café

Zvishavane Shuro Jazz Band belted their own compositions as well as renditions of Bob Marley and Dr Thomas Mapfumo.
Takundei Kashiri, the band’s assistant manager, said the group was made up of members from other groups.

“We formed the band to rejuvenate Devera Ngwena Jazz Band following its downfall and two remaining members Innocent Bitu and Patrick Mbewe conducted rehearsals to come up with the group.

“We are 15 and have recorded two albums titled ‘Upenyu’, a sungura one and a jazz album ‘Welcome to Zvishavane’ both released at the same time last year,” he said.

As is the norm, Sistaz Open Mic, a talent showcase set the tone for the day and did not disappoint. To add spark to the show was a guest appearance by Germany-based poet, writer, artiste and cultural consultant Chirikure Chirikure.
