Although Insp Chishaka said he was yet to get full details, he said preliminary investigations showed that the driver of the bus was speeding and failed to stop at the rail-road crossing.
“We received a report about a bus that rammed into a train. The driver was reportedly speeding. Police will continue to urge motorists to exercise caution on the roads and will remain in full force on the roads to enforce road rules,” he said.
National Railways of Zimbabwe public relations manager Mr Fanuel Masikati yesterday appealed to drivers of public vehicles to exercise caution when approaching railway lines.
He said NRZ was concerned about the number of accidents at rail-road crossings, which he said were as a result of negligence by motorists.
“We received a report that our driver was involved in an accident with a bus belonging to Eagle Liner in Kadoma on Saturday. The accident occurred near Kadoma Hotel and Conference Centre killing one person,” he said.
