A Harare man has been jailed for 10 years for raping his six-year-old niece after she was left in his custody.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of rape when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Morgen Nemadire.

Mr Michael Reza prosecuted.
Facts are that sometime in October last year the complainant and her aunt visited her grandmother.
The girl was left in the sitting room watching television with her uncle and it is at this point that he first raped her.
On the second count, in November 2010 the man raped the girl in the living room at her mother’s house at night while everyone else was sleeping.
The crimes came to light when the victim’s mother noticed some discharge coming from the girl’s private parts.
On being quizzed, she revealed the rape and a police report was made.
