11 reasons why Mutuma can shine at Highlanders

Fungai Muderere
REPORTS of Roderick MutumaA joining Highlanders surfaced periodically over the past couple of weeks and club coach Erol Akbay has reportedly developed a soft spot for the former Dynamos striker.

While others in the Bosso setup see no reason to hire Mutuma, B-Metro Sport gives you 11 reasons why the lanky forward might shine at the black and white camp.

1. Mutuma will bring in a wealth of experience having played for two big clubs-Dynamos and CAPS United plus a stint in South Africa where he turned out for Bloemfontein Celtics.

2. Itas an open secret that Mutuma loves the show, if the Soweto (swimming pool end) and Empankweni Stands at Barbourfields Stadium can get behind him, heas likely to shine.

3. While at DeMbare and CAPS United, Mutuma was constantly at loggerheads with Bosso fans. This is a chance to reunite with them and they will forgive and love him if he can perform which puts the player under pressure to do well.

4. Obviously being discarded by Dynamos was not good for the former Quelaton forward. He has a challenge to prove the blue half of Harare that they made a mistake by putting up some top drawer performances deep in the bowels of Barbourfields Stadium.

5. Many describe the self styled a?Prince of Zimbabwean footballa? as a wayward character. Signing for Highlanders gives him a chance for him to reform and concentrate on improving his game and building his character.

6.A In poor form the ginger haired forward scored a quarter of the goals the Golden Boot Award winner Leonard Tsipa got last season. With a bit of supply from Bossoas young Prince Dube who had many assists last term, Mutuma is likely to shine.

7. In the past Mutuma seemed motivated playing in the cauldron of Barbourfields Stadium. In Bosso colours that will naturally motivate him to excel.

8. He has got that ability within him. Mutuma possesses that personal inner self belief. Heas more capable of doing wonders as he is a wonderfully talented player.

9. Mutuma is endowed with speed, strength and ability to unleash thunderous shots which have seen many strikers carve their names at Emagumeni, avenue where he has to share pitch space with the alpha dog that is Ralph a?Banolilaa?Matema.

10. Having Mutuma in the team gives Highlanders a 1-0 advantage before a ball is kicked. He is a player who can work even off the ball andA he takesA high a percentage attempts at goal and when there are team-mates in better attacking positions, history has it that he turns to supplier.

11. No nonsense coaches the world over are known for turning so called ill disciplined individuals into world class players. Who could ever forget how Sir Alex Ferguson turned a wayward young Wayne Rooney into a complete and goal scoring machine at Old Trafford. Highlanders coach Erol Akbay has made it clear that he will deal with Mutumaas misdemeanors and that he wants the player at Bosso.
