OFFICIALS IN LIMBO: ZIFA YET TO FORMALISE LIFTING OF SUSPENSIONS

Raymond Jaravaza .
FOOTBALL administrators and coaches whose suspensions for a litany of allegations were lifted by Zifa last week are still to get confirmation letters from the football mother body affirming that they are free to resume duties in their respective organisations.

Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa last week announced in Bulawayo that Bulawayo City FC chairman and coach Jerry Sibanda and Philani a?Beefya? Ncube respectively, Hwange FC coach Nation Dube, former Warriors coach Ian Gorowa as well as Zifa board member Edzai Kasinauyoas suspensions had been lifted.

Retired Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede also had his suspension lifted but Bosso chairman Peter Dube remains suspended until his case is heard by the Zifa review committee led by lawyer Itai Ndudzo.

a?I canat talk or comment about club issues at the moment. We (the club) have not heard from Zifa (concerning the lifting of suspensions),a? said Bulawayo City FC chairman said Sibanda.

Hwange FC president Joseph Zulu also sung the same chorus when asked if coach Dube had resumed his duties.

a?The lifting of Dubeas suspension was announced in the newspapers but as a club we await official communication from Zifa. When our coach was suspended Zifa wrote to us to that effect so we also expect another letter from them stating that the suspension has been lifted,a? said Zulu.

Veteran administrator Gumede said he was enjoying his retirement but had not received a confirmation letter from Zifa.

Gorowa and Kasinauyo could not be reached for comment.

Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said the issue of letters of confirmation was an administrative matter but the association would advise concerned parties in due course.

Board member Kasinauyo would be expected to take his place in the Zifa executive until elections are held next year while coach Ncube, if given the green light by his club Bulawayo City FC, will lead the team in the upcoming season.

Unfortunately for Hwange coach Dube his role as Warriors assistant coach to Callisto Pasuwa is no longer available after the national team technical bench was shown the door by Zifa in the aftermath of a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
