15 Zim women honoured at Women Thou Art Loosed Conference

Fifteen women were honoured for their pioneering achievements at the recent Women Thou Art Loosed (WTAL) conference held at the House of Prayer for All Nations in Harare.

The honourees, described as “women of unwavering spirit,” were recognised for their dominance in their respective fields, with a focus on their talent, intellect, and determination.

Organised by Prophetess Beaullah Machiri, the conference is an interdenominational event aimed at uplifting and fortifying women in their faith.

Irene Staunton

The Herald’s Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo was among the honoured women, alongside prominent figures from finance, aviation, and media.

She won in the journalism category for her insightful reporting and dedication to truth, while Tilder Moyo was recognised as a beloved radio and TV personality who has captured the hearts of the nation.

Dr Mandas Marikanda

Dr Rebecca Chisamba, an icon and a national treasure, was also honoured for her beloved “Mai Chisamba Show,” a platform that tackles difficult conversations with wisdom and grace under the media category.

The arts were well-represented, with honours going to acclaimed actress and filmmaker Jesesi Mungoshi, whose iconic performances have immortalised the resilience of Zimbabwean women.

Irene Staunton, co-founder of Weaver Press, was celebrated for her crucial role in shaping Zimbabwean literature.

The internationally acclaimed author and filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembwa was also honoured for her profound work that challenges perspectives and gives a voice to the complexities of history and identity.

Two prominent figures in education were also recognised.

Bishop Dr. Irene was celebrated for her lifelong dedication to enlightening minds, while Dr  Fay King Chung, a revolutionary educator and former Minister, was honoured for her visionary policies that transformed the nation’s educational landscape.

In the sciences, Professor Idah Sithole-Niang was acknowledged as a brilliant mind who has pushed the frontiers of biotechnology in Zimbabwe.

The world of sports was also highlighted, with honours for broadcaster Merit Munzwembiri, whose voice is synonymous with sports commentary, and Olympian Lilian Chikara, who has inspired aspiring athletes with her dedication and prowes
