$150 fine for assaulting jealous girlfriend

FOR bashing his girlfriend, a Dangamvura man was fined $150.

Isaac Mukasi (32) pleaded guilty to assaulting Fiona Tapo (30) when he appeared before Mr Poterai Gwezhira.

Representing the State was Mr Donald Mudadirwa.

Allegations were that Mukasi assaulted Tapo with wooden sticks all over her body after a misunderstanding between the girlfriend and Mukasi’s wife.

Responding to the allegations, Mukasi told the court that he assaulted Tapo after she had assaulted his wife.

He told the court that Tapo was comparing herself with his wife to the extent that she wanted to be treated the same regardless of the fact that she was only his lover.

“Tapo has always been jealousy of my wife, a reason which led me to assault her,” he said.

Mr Gwezhira warned him against the use of violence to solve problems and advised him to go to court if Tapo continues to disturb his wife’s peace.
