Celebration Health spokesperson Ms Diana Banda yesterday said they chose Mhondoro-Ngezi to bring the services to the people. “There is a great need of cataract operations in the country, so we found it important for us to go outside and bring the service to the people rather than them coming to Harare,” she said.
Ms Banda urged people to go to their nearest clinics for screening before February 11 and bring their medical records. “Mhondoro-Ngezi is quite a large area and it has about 20 clinics and St Michaels hospital being central. We call upon patients to go for screening at their local clinics and bring their medical records,” she said.
Ms Banda said they are targeting between 100 and 150 patients.
Last year, about 500 patients benefited from free cataract operations under the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Brightness Trip at Chitungwiza Central Hospital and another 150 under the Lions Club of Harare West Eye First at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
