2 miners feared trapped in Chakari mine shaft

Authorities had closed a shaft using boulders and gravel.
The dysfunctional mine was allegedly used as entry and exit point by illegal gold panners.

The shaft was closed last Wednesday after the mine had issued a two-day notice.
Reports also say the shaft was allegedly closed without any inspection exercise to verify whether there was anybody underground.

So far two people from the Chakari community have since been identified as missing since last Wednesday and it is believed that the two had gone to pan for gold at the mine site in question.

A group of 20 people comprising 10 Dalny Mine workers are searching for possible survivors.
