2011 curtain comes down in style

Superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and dendera prodigy Sulumane Chimbetu are expected to headline a gig at the Midlands Hotel in Gweru tonight.
The two return to the City of Progress after a flawless act in August at the same venue.
Tafadzwa Maridhadhi, the entertainment manager of Midlands Hotel, said they had decided to bring back the two icons to Gweru because of the overwhelming response they received last time they performed in the City of Progress.
“Since that August gig we have had people demanding that we bring Sulu and Tuku back,” he said.
The two will without doubt show exhibit their mastery in both song and dance as well as play their duet “Kwedu” which has become a favourite of many a music fan.
The duo of Baba naMai Charamba will grace a music gala at the Aquatic Complex on New Year’s Day.
Arguably the most popular faces in gospel in Zimbabwe, the Charambas are known to deliver the best in music and live performances. Backed by The Fishers of Men, the band that has been with them since their formative stages, Charles and his wife Olivia are a joy to watch and their chemistry on and off the stage is incredible.
At least two upcoming acts acts will support the couple.
Visiting Jamaican dancehall artiste Red Rat is expected to raise the bar higher as he concludes his maiden Zimbabwean tour.
In the company of Pascalle, the two are set as the main acts for a gig scheduled for Saturday night at the Red Fox Hotel.
The gig, which has been dubbed “Bustdown”, will also feature resident selectors and sound jays from the joint, which has become the home of dancehall reggae.
Alick Macheso and his new found ally Tryson Chimbetu will take to the stage in Karoi at the popular As u like It tonight.
The two have for the better part of this year strengthened their relationship with Macheso assisting the young man by roping him in as his supporting for most of his shows.
