‘Ninja President’ opens 2012 in Marondera

Born Wallace Chirumiko, his ever-growing fan base now knows Winky D by different names such as “Ninja President”, “Bigman” and “Messi weReggae”.
If it is about rocking the microphone Winky D spits lyrics like a machine gun while his high-energy performances leave fans clamouring for more.
The “Musarova Bigman” hitmaker will be out to prove that he is still on the top of his game when he delivers his chart topping “Taitirana” off the album “PaKitchen”.
The hit song features upcoming chanter Lipsy who has proved that women are as good as men in reggae/dancehall.
Lipsy has brought a refreshing angle to Winky D’s music as she is gifted with a velvet voice that complements his hoarse rapping style.
Backed by a live band, the “Ninja President” has without doubt been the most successful dancehall artiste in 2011 and the gig is way of showing just what fans can expect in the New Year.
The gifted chanter has a catalogue of hit songs and those who have attended his live shows would testify to the verve and vigour that he exhibits on stage keeping revellers on their feet and singing along.
As usual, Winky D is expected to spring a surprise in the form of new “riddims” as he always has new stuff up his sleeves to shock his fans.
2010 might be gone, but the track named after it is still massively popular, while “Takaipa Takaipa” is another beautiful song.
His music will without doubt appeal to the people of Marondera since it is music that addresses issues stemming from the ghetto.
Born on February 1, 1983 in Kambuzuma, Winky D changed the sound of Zimbabwean dancehall music, a feat that has seen him winning accolades in Zimbabwe and recognition in countries like South Africa where he featured in the Southern Africa Music Airwaves (Sama) Festival in 2009.
“The Ninja President” has also toured the United Kingdom and South Africa.
In an interview, Duny Mutyambizi, the young Primus boss who are putting the gig together, said Winky D was an inspiration to youths.
“Winky is one of the most entertaining and conscious messengers. Hosting him as the first act of the year will inspire others to follow in his footsteps,” he said.
