Tax-free bonus up

MOST workers will get their full bonuses this year after Government increased the tax-free bonus threshold to  US$700.

Presenting a US$4 billion 2012 National Budget yesterday, Minister Biti said the additional US$200, from last year’s threshold of $500, will boost disposable income ahead of the festive season.

Most workers are yet to receive bonuses, which are traditionally paid in November, as employers awaited the Budget announcement.
However, the minister was not so generous on monthly tax-free portion on salaries which he only raised by US$25 to US$250.

Zimpapers, AB awarded radio licences

THE Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe has awarded Zimbabwe Newspapers and AB Communications free-to-air  broadcasting national radio licenses.

BAZ chairperson Dr Tafataona Mahoso yesterday said the awarding of licences to the two firms followed a thorough adjudication process that saw them scoring higher points among the four shortlisted applicants.

The four companies are AB Communications (Zi Radio), Zimpapers (Zimpapers Talk Radio), Hot Media (Kiss FM) and Vox Media (VOP FM).
