KP gives Anjin the nod

a Cabinet Minister said yesterday.

Following the KP plenary session held in the DRC early this month which gave Zimbabwe the right to export its diamonds, a monitoring team comprising Abbey Chikane and Mark van Bockastael was dispatched to Marange to assess the operations at Anjin mine.

The company is one of the five which the government granted license to partner with the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation to mine alluvial diamonds.
Anjin has invested close to US$310 million towards setting up open cast mining operations in the Chiadzwa area and is sitting on an estimated stockpile of two million carats of the precious stones.

Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu, said the KP inspectors were pleased with the way Anjin was extracting the rough stones.
“Their report is out and it is a very good report. They have given Anjin a clean bill. Anjin has been allowed to sell. It did not only meet the requirements, it exceeded their expectations thus they certified it fully compliant,” he said.

Marange Resources and Mbada Diamonds were the only companies, which the KP had allowed to sell diamonds. – New Ziana.
