Warthogs wreak havoc at irrigation scheme

Warthogs have invaded Hama-Mavhaire irrigation scheme in Chirumanzu district and farmers fear they might harvest nothing from their irrigated crop unless something is done to contain them.
Farmers who spoke to Chronicle during a recent visit to the area said they were now being forced to abandon the comfort of their houses to spend sleepless nights guarding their fields.
They said warthogs were always a menace at the irrigation scheme during this time of the year.
Cigarette smugglers arrested

FOUR Zimbabweans were on Wednesday evening arrested in Thohoyandou in Limpopo province, South Africa following the interception of their car, which was loaded with several boxes of smuggled cigarettes worth R100 000.
