THE Bulawayo City Council has availed 169 medium density housing stands in Mahatshula in an effort to clear the housing waiting list, which is about 95 000.
According to the latest council report, the director of housing and community services, Mr Isaiah Magagula, said the beneficiaries would be drawn from the local authority’s housing waiting list and they would be expected to pay a deposit of 35 percent on acceptance of the offer and the other part in instalments.
“The council has proposed to service 169 housing stands in Mahatshula through pre-selling of stands. The beneficiaries will come from the council’s waiting list and they will pay a deposit of 35 percent, which will form seed money,” said Mr Magagula.

ZTA to crack whip on Bulawayo tourism facilities
HARARE — The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has given tourism facilities in Bulawayo six months to improve standards and services or face closure.
The ZTA established during the recent Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) that several lodges and hotels in the city were in a dilapidated state providing sub-standard services.
Ncube a national hero

THE Zanu-PF Deputy Secretary for Administration, Cde Edson Ncube, who died at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo, has been declared a National Hero and will be buried tomorrow morning at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.
Cde Ncube, who was 74, succumbed to anaemia on Sunday.
In a telephone interview from Harare yesterday, the party’s Secretary for Administration, Cde Didymus Mutasa said the party rewarded Cde Ncube with the National Hero status for his deeds before and after Independence.
Cde Mutasa said 46 out of 62 Politburo members consulted recommended that Cde Ncube be declared a National Hero.
