Zim clinch series

Eddie Chikamhi Sports Reporter
ZIMBABWE secured an historic victory over South Africa with a crushing nine-wicket triumph, which sent shock waves around the cricket world yesterday, to secure the Pran AFL Twenty20 series before a noisy sellout crowd at Harare Sports Club.

It was Zimbabwe’s second win, in three matches against their neighbours in this series, and having only won just two One Day Internationals against South Africa prior to this tournament, Alan Butcher and his men matched that in just one successful week,

Although South Africa were without key players like Dale Steyn and Jacques Kallis, they still brought a very competitive team, led by Hashim Amla, and they were odds-on favourites, not only to win this series, but do so without breaking a lot of sweat.

But Zimbabwe showed significant improvement and they will now focus on the World Twenty20 Cup in Sri Lanka in September with a lot of confidence after one of their finest victories on the cricket field.

Pay dispute threatens June exams

Zimsec still has an appeal pending on the

Labour Court ruling to pay allowances.
Education, Sport, Arts and Culture Minister David Coltart is now involved in trying to resolve the dispute.

At the weekend he said he held a meeting with some of the board members last week as part of the measures to resolve the impasse.
“I met Zimsec board deputy chairperson (Mrs Hilda Shindi) who also chairs the committee and I
