LIVESTOCK farmers in Matabeleland have challenged the Government to split the agriculture sector into clusters and come up with a separate budget for livestock production.
The Zimbabwe Commercial Farmers’ Union (ZCFU) convened a Matabeleland Small Business Livestock Consultative meeting with Government and political leaders at Elangeni Training Centre in Bulawayo yesterday to map the way forward in the wake of threats to the livestock sector particularly in Matabeleland where 371 000 cattle are at risk of starvation. About 500 have died in the province due to lack of pasture and water.
The union invited the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Sithembiso Nyoni, to apprise her of their plight and to stress that they were also small scale businesses that needed equal consideration like other sectors of the economy.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Seiso Moyo, Zanu-PF National Chairman Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo and Deputy Speaker of the Senate and Insiza Senator Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu also attended the indaba.

Hundreds get free health care in Gweru

THE Chinese Government under the ambit of its Chamber of Chinese Enterprises in Zimbabwe at the weekend launched a Free Health Services Day in Gweru.
Twelve Chinese doctors working in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare medical personnel gave free health care to over 500 people in the Midlands province.
The Chinese medical team indicated that the Free Health Day, will be an annual event, and they will be visiting all the country’s 10 provinces providing free health care to members of the public, mostly the under privileged.
The official launch of Chamber of Chinese Enterprises in Zimbabwe Free Health Day saw the parties in the inclusive Government under Jomic, church organisations, schools and members of the public conducting a clean up campaign in the central business district before they converged at the Gweru Civic Centre.
