Buscod workers to get $4 layoff packages
Nokuthaba Mathema
WORKERS at Buscod Group of Supermarkets will get between $4 and $17 as packages beginning next week against the expected $260 to $500 they claim to be owed.
In an interview yesterday, the managing director of Buscod, Mr Dzvamu Dembwe, said the more than 400 workers would be paid in batches of 10 people every week.
He said last year’s outstanding November and December salaries will be settled in line with contracts the workers signed.
“We will pay them the 2012 outstanding November and December salaries that range from $4 to $17 because that is the money we owe them. The amount is based on the contracts they signed when they first got the jobs. If they feel otherwise, they are free to go to the Labour Court to contest the issue,” said Mr Dembwe.
“The $260 to $500 of unpaid salaries demanded by these guys totals to about $150 000 and is an exaggeration.Bright future beckons for Future

Harare Bureau
FINANCE Minister Tendai Biti has challenged Spirit Embassy founder Prophet Uebert Angel and United Family International Church leader Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa to “produce” over $10 billion required to liquidate Government’s debt and fund national programmes.
This follows claims that Prophet Angel enables congregants to “miraculously” receive money in their pockets and bank accounts.
Prophet Makandiwa is on record as saying he can assist people to amass material wealth.
“I respect the men of God, Angel and Makandiwa because of the miracles they are performing. But if they are printing real money, I am asking them to deposit the money in our (Treasury) account at CBZ so that we can pay some of our arrears,” said Minister Biti.
He said he would not comment on the implications of this “miracle money” to the United States Federal Reserve because it had not been officially confirmed that it was happening.Zifa appoints regional coaches
