Small-scale miners council set for launch

THE recently established Zimbabwe Artisanal and Small-Scale for Sustainable Mining Council (ZASMC) will be launched in Harare soon, the council’s president, Mr Wellington Takavarasha has said.

He said they were working on modalities for the launch.

“We are working to have the council launched, and if all goes accordingly, the launch date will be next week (this week),” he said.

HARARE-based businessman Mgcini Mpofu was yesterday elected Highlanders vice chairman and Jerry Sibanda was elected treasurer.

The elections were held at the Highlanders Clubhouse with 224 bona-fide members casting their votes for the vice-chairman and treasurer. Only two people abstained from voting.
