The 2023 FBC ZIM Open Golf Tournament was officially launched yesterday at the Royal Harare.
FBC Bank is the title sponsor of the country’s biggest golf showcase, which attracts a lot of international players.
It is scheduled to get underway on May 4.
Zimbabwe Golf Association president, Martin Chikwanha said the tournament is a platform that brings together professionals, amateurs, and enthusiasts from around the world.
“The Zimbabwe Golf Open Championship is a celebration of the sport of golf, uniting professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts from around the world to test their skills on our beautiful greens at Royal Harare.
“It is an incredible opportunity for us to showcase the beauty of Zimbabwe and its finest golfing facilities.
“Not only do we have an outstanding golfing event, but we also have an amazing lineup of activities, including networking opportunities, and family-friendly activities.
“These events will enable attendees to grow their networks and establish new acquaintances while also enjoying the beauty of our country.
“To our top golfers, Robson Chinhoyi, Ryan Cairns, Nyasha Muyambo, Benjamin Follett-Smith, to name but a few, once again we wish all the best.”
Zimbabwe Open Committee chairman, Livingstone Gwata, said he is grateful to the sponsors who have worked with them all over the years.
“We have offered title sponsorship to our partners and sponsors over the years and thus afforded them the opportunity to name the tournament after their chosen brand.
“It takes the generosity and corporate social responsibility of our sponsors to make an event of this nature possible.
“Our fundraising strategy as a Committee always starts with securing the buy-in of the pillar sponsors. “The excellent manner in which the Zimbabwe Open has been run over the years has not gone unnoticed.
“Our Tour Partners, the Sunshine Tour, were invited by the European Tour ( now rebranded as the DP World Tour) to recommend countries outside South Africa that could successfully stage a European tour event and they had no hesitation in putting Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Open forward for inclusion in the European Tour.”
