Chansa thanks Lwandamina for faith in his experience

Isaac Chansa has thanked George Lwandamina for believing in what his and Christopher Katongo’s experience could bring to the team at the 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan).

Chansa scored a goal on Tuesday to inspire Zambia to a 1-0 Group D victory over Zimbabwe at the ongoing tournament in Rwanda.

The 2012 Africa Cup winning star said the victory has given Zambia a good springboard in their quest to reach the Chan quarterfinals.

“I can say congrats to the coach for bringing us in the team and I think winning first game will give us confidence going into next games,” Chansa said.

Chansa and Katongo were recalled to the team last December after previously featuring for Zambia in June and October 2014 respectively.

Katongo too could have gotten on the score sheet but had an effort hit the side of the net in the 3rd minute and another saved by Zimbabwe goalkeeper Donovan Bernard in the 61st minute.

“We’ve lots of young players with lots of energy,” Chansa added.

“We keep working and we keep on sharing with the young that hard work and good team spirit pays.”—Supersport.
