A 25-year-old man from Umguza District has been arrested for throwing a machete at his neighbour, striking him on the forehead during a misunderstanding.
Joseph Nyathi appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing charges of attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody to October 30 for trial.
Prosecuting, Ms Cathrine Kuzu, told the court that the incident occurred on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
On that date, the accused person had a misunderstanding with his neighbour, Zanele Maseko (32).
The court heard that a heated argument arose between the two, which led Nyathi to take a machete and throw it towards Maseko. Unfortunately, Maseko failed to avoid the machete, which struck him once on the forehead. The complainant sustained a cut on the forehead and was rushed for medical attention.
A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
In a similar case, a 25 year old Bulawayo man appeared in court for stabbing his relative with a knife once on the chest.
Igunda Katumba of Upper Rangemore appeared before the same magistrate facing charges of attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody to October 30.
Prosecuting, Ms Cathrine Kuzu, told the court that the accused person and the complainant are related.
The incident occurred on October 20 at around 5PM at Phase Four Clothing Factory in Upper Rangemore.
The court heard that the accused person assaulted Mawu Katumba (22) by stabbing him with a knife once on the chest.
The complainant suffered a stab wound on the chest and was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person, said Ms Kuzu.
