A 26-YEAR-OLD Rusape woman, Thandizike Manhini has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for stabbing her aunt to death during a domestic dispute over electricity usage.
The incident occurred last year at the inherited family home in Vengere, where Manhini lived with the late Dorothy Matongo (48).
In an update, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed the case outcome.
The NPA said Manhini was convicted of murder at the Mutare High Court after it presented overwhelming evidence against her.
Initially, she had entered a plea of culpable homicide.
A heated argument erupted when Manhini accused Matongo of misusing electricity.
The altercation turned physical, and Manhini grabbed Matongo by the neck before producing a knife from her back pocket and stabbing her once in the left side of the chest.
Matongo stumbled out of the house, crying in agony, and collapsed on the ground, bleeding profusely.
She was taken to Rusape General Hospital, and was later referred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in Mutare. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the injuries around Chipembere area.
