3-week tennis tourney set for Harare

TENNIS Zimbabwe will host a three-week International Tennis Federation Under-18 tournament at Harare Sports Club starting from 26 July to 15 August that is expected to attract participants from across the globe, TZ manager Cliff Nhokwara has revealed. The country has been staging the juniors’ event for the past three years, producing top drawer youngsters like Ronzai Sawurombe and Tendai Tapfuma, among others who have gone on to land university scholarships in the United States.

The boys and girls tournament will see players competing in the singles section as well as the doubles category.
Nhokwara said the event which would be for players aged between 14 and 18 will for the

umpteenth time afford the local juniors an opportunity to market themselves and gain international recognition.
According to Nhokwara countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Germany, England, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Qatar and India have hinted their desire to be part of the tournament and have already applied for relevant visas.
