The drilling of 35 000 solarised boreholes across all the villages countrywide under the Presidential Borehole Scheme is well on course following the delivery of 4 000 solar pumps and drives on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite attempts to disrupt the smooth sailing project, reputable firm, Prevail Group International, contracted to do the drilling, is pulling all the stops to ensure all the 35 000 state-of-the-art boreholes are drilled in record two years time.

Each village is also being empowered with a nutritional garden with proceeds benefitting locals.
Speaking during the delivery of the consignment, Prevail International Group CEO, Dr Tempter Paul Tungwarara said they took delivery of 4 000 pumps and drives as well as solar panels.
“In line with the President’s drive to avail potable clean water to all citizens, we are speedily implementing that. Today we have taken delivery of pumps, drivers and solars to ensure that the goal is achieved as early as yesterday,” he said.

Ms Sarah Chirima said it was heartening to see that the Second Republic was walking its talk.
“Mwanangu zvinofadza izvi (my son this makes us happy) we never thought that we would live to see this day in our village but thanks to the honest work being done by vaMnangagwa (President Mnangagwa) we are seeing things moving.
“Initially we thought that this was just a political gimmick but no, we now truly believe that the Second Republic means business,” she said.
Mr Admire Chinama weighed in saying the drilling of the solar-poweredd boreholes and the subsequent establishment of a nutritional garden would see the whole village being able to sustain itself.
“We commend the speed with which this is moving because once it is up and running we know that the whole village will never succumb to hunger, this is a lifelong investment and it is very much commendable.
“With the increasing cholera cases, surely this is a shot in the arm for us and we are very grateful,” he said.
Mrs Magret Cheka also commended the Government for moving swiftly in addressing the people’s plight.
“I would just like to say thank you very much to the President and the company doing the drilling because they have shown seriousness.
“We are confident that surely we have been remembered, we have been saved,” she said with a joyful smile.
