A HARARE man offered $35 000 for the upkeep of his three-year-old child after being dragged to court by his ex-wife, who was demanding $90 000.
During the court hearing, Trymore Bowa, defended his offer claiming that he works as a security guard and earns $49 000.
In response, Nyasha Mudheredhe, turned down the offer.
“The money is not enough and cannot sustain the child’s needs for the whole month.
“From what I heard, they also earn US dollars like other civil servants and it does not reflect on the pay slip,” she said.
Added mudheredhe:
“He drives to and from work every day, yet he says he survives on $14 000.
“How is that possible?
“My plea is that he meets me half way because it’s not fair that he pays one quarter and l pay three quarters yet the child is both ours.”
Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Trymore to pay $70 000.
