FORTY five illegal immigrants, who were intercepted in Southlea Park en-route to South Africa, have appeared in court accused of entering into the country without a valid permit.
Two of them, Ndayizeye Eliphase and Manirakazi Augustine, are from Burundi and were remanded in custody to today to allow the State to secure a Kirundi interpreter.
The rest are Malawian nationals.
The court heard that on Tuesday, police officers from ZRP Southlea Park, Harare, received information to the effect that there were a number of Burundian and Malawian nationals without proper traveling documents.
They were on board a Rimbi Bus, registration number AGJ 8641, which was heading to Beitbridge ,South-Africa.
A team was assembled and proceeded to Boka Bus Stop, Southlea Park, and intercepted the bus.
They requested identity documents from the passengers who did not have any document authorising them to be in the country, leading to their arrest.
