48 MEMBERS of the Zimbabwe National Army were awarded certificates at a graduation ceremony which marked the end of Company Group Commanders Course 1-54 and Platoon Commanders Course 2-55 at Nyamombe Border Camp on Friday last week.
Both courses are designed to endow the graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes that should enable them to lead company groups and platoon-size sub-units across the spectrums of both war and peace.
The studies focused on operational art and the practical operation of principles, procedures and drills.
The best student in the Company Group commanders Course 1/54 was Tongai Mutembedza from the School of Armor whilst captain Marvelous Nyoni from Army Headquarters and Captain Claudius Vitoyi seconded him respectively.
Platoon commanders course best student was Lieutenant Wishes Manenji from 13 Infantry Battalion and Lieutenant Mashingo Mandongwe was the first runner up whilst Lieutenant Sibongile Dube was the second runner up.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the guest of honour, Major General Douglas Nyikayaramba, said “The ZNA will continue to improve on its robust security force through progressively training its personnel to high standards.
The aim is to produce commanders who are flexible and have vision to produce counter tactics to stop any formidable invading force.
As a force we must not be found off guard and continuous training is necessary for our state of readiness. No wonder why two streams of both CGCC and PCC are trained annually as directed by the commander in his yearly directive, “he said.
There were also 4 members of the Namibian National Army who took part in the courses and they could not hide their joy on their achievement. Lieutenant Joseph Tuhafeni Haikela thanked the ZNA for the opportunity.
“The courses will help us a lot in the execution of our duties back home. It makes us understand and grow within the careers of the army. I’m very much excited, “he said.
Both courses covered among other subjects, conventional warfare, low intensity operations, military law, peace keeping, military civil education and asymmetric warfare.
