48 Zimbabweans injured in SA bus crash

along the N1 Highway near Makhadho town in South Africa’s Limpopo Province early yesterday.

The Eagle Liner bus is reported to have developed a mechanical fault 12km out of Makhadho near the tunnel at Maneledzi Mountains.
The bus veered off the road and overturned once before catching fire.

Police rushed the eight who were seriously injured to Siloam Hospital where their condition is reported to be critical while 40 others are admitted at Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital and are said to be in a stable condition.

Louis Trichardt police spokesman Captain Maano Sadike confirmed the incident yesterday, saying investigations were underway.

“The incident occurred at around 12.50am 12km out of Makhadho town along the N1 public road but, however, no life was lost.
“Apparently the Eagle Liner bus was travelling from Johannesburg to Bulawayo with 65 passengers on board, including the bus crew.”
