50 percent pay hike for civil servants

CIVIL servants’ salaries have been increased by between 45 percent and 50 percent as Government moves to fulfil its promise to stagger the wage hike for employees.

 

This follows a 25 percent salary increase in April as Government committed to further raise the pay mid-year.

 

Several non-monetary incentives to cushion the workers have also been availed by Government, with unions representing civil servants yesterday confirming that their members had received a salary increment this month.

 

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Lovemore Matuke said the salary increment for civil servants is in line with Government’s commitment to address and improve the welfare of its employees.

 

He added that the non-monetary benefits will continue to be fine-tuned as a way of creating a conducive working environment.
