54 more succumb to Covid-19

At least 54 more people succumbed to Covid-19 yesterday, while 733 new cases were reported.

Harare, which has been hard hit by the pandemic, recorded 26 deaths, Bulawayo four, Manicaland six, Mashonaland Central four, Mashonaland East nine, Mashonaland West two, Midlands one and Masvingo one.

Yesterday’s deaths took the overall tally to 879 since March last year when Covid-19 broke out in Zimbabwe.

In terms of new cases, all the 733 were local transmissions, with 242 cases from Harare.

A daily update from the Ministry of Health and Child Care released last night indicated that 4 418 tests were done yesterday.

However, 1 143 new recoveries were reported yesterday, resulting in the number of active cases going down to 9 276.
