The car that had six people on board was travelling from Mutare to Nyanga.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Leonard Chabata yesterday said the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and hit a baobab tree.
He said five people died on the spot while one was rushed to Bonda Mission Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Insp Chabata said only one person – Joshua Setete (31) a male from Penhalonga, has been identified so far.
The other three adults had no form of identification on them.
“We cannot disclose the names of the other two are yet to be identified as their next of kin are yet to be advised.
“We urge people to drive cautiously since we are approaching the festive season where accidents are common,” he said.
He also urged all people to have identification papers on them when travelling.
Ten people were recently killed in Murambinda, Buhera when a kombi they were travelling in overturned after the driver failed to control it.
