SIXTY students who graduated with diplomas in agriculture at Chibero College of Agriculture on Friday have been encouraged to deploy their skills to develop the country. Speaking at the event, Agriseeds director (Sales and Marketing) Mr Ivan Craig said the skills acquired by the graduates were crucial for the country’s goal of achieving food self-sufficiency.
“This marks yet another great and far-reaching advanced step towards the fulfilment of the goal, which the Government is looking into, on self-sufficiency in food security, balanced nutrition and value addition at a household level and the nation at large,” said Mr Craig.
The graduation ran under the theme “Closing the gap between agricultural knowledge and practice to ensure food security for the nation”. In a speech read on his behalf by the Dean of the Department of Agriculture at the college, Mr Charles Mutisi, University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura implored Government to help the college in purchasing laboratory equipment. Prof Nyagura congratulated Chibero for achieving a 90 percent pass rate.
