7 to learn Mandarin

scholarship was established to help solve the language barrier between Zimbabweans and China.
One of the beneficiaries, Blessing Neganje, said they expected their studies in China to be an eye-opener.

“We hope that the study will facilitate the easy flow of an ongoing connection existing between Zimbabwe and China. We really see the impact the Chinese have on the economy of this country and we feel that there is a barrier in terms of language,” he said.

Another beneficiary, Christian King, said a lot of Chinese people were investing in Zimbabwe, hence the need to improve communication.
“The Chinese are assisting in boosting industry in this country, but the greatest challenge has been the issue of language, which we hope will be addressed by such programmes as this scholarship,” he said.
