Merck Foundation has partnered with African First Ladies, Ministries of Health, and Medical Societies to award more than 760 scholarships to doctors from 52 countries.

The scholarships, which include one-year Post-Graduate Diplomas and two-year Master’s Degrees, are focused on critical medical specialties such as Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Obesity, and Weight Management, among others.

In a statement to mark World Hypertension Day, Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of the Merck Foundation said, “At Merck Foundation we mark World Hypertension Day by improving access to quality and equitable hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular preventive care, which are all co-related, in Africa, Asia and Latin America.”

The foundation’s commitment to supporting healthcare professionals in Africa, Asia, and Latin America is commendable as it addresses the pressing need for specialised training in these regions.

This year’s World Hypertension Day commemorations are running under the theme ‘Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer’.
