AN elderly man is being accused by his daughter of sharing pornographic material, including watching X-rated movies, with his grandchildren.
Barnabas Mashonganyika, 78, has been dragged to court by his daughter, Moleen, who is accusing him of abusing her minor children.
Barnabas has seven other protection orders, which have been issued against him by the Harare Civil Court, for his actions against his children and relatives. He is perceived as a troublesome man who is into drugs and alcohol.
“He is my father but I don’t approve of his conduct around my children, he has been showing them pornographic content and I don’t know his actions,” said Moleen.
“He is an alcoholic and abuses drugs.
“I am afraid he will be a bad influence to my children and this is not his first brush with the law, he has seven protection orders against him.”
She added;
“He calls me a prostitute and threatens unspecified action against me.
“Sometimes he steals food items and money from my tuckshop so that he gives his friends in exchange for drugs and alcohol.
“All my other siblings and our mother have disowned him because of his behaviour.”
Mashonganyika claimed his children were denying him the rights to his businesses.
“The tuckshop is mine and l want her to give me money.
“I do not insult her but she is the one who disrespects me around her children.
“I have never stolen anything from the tuckshop but only taken what’s mine.”
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga granted the protection order in Moleen’s favour.
