THE annual prime Midlands agricultural event, the Midlands Show, is on this month-end. Management team is wrapping up preparatory work for the yearly agricultural showcase.
Victoria Chikukwa, the Midlands Show manager, said 85 percent of exhibitors have already confirmed their participation.
She said:

“The show is getting bigger and better by the year. Our teams have applied themselves in preparing for the four-day event. Already, 85 percent of exhibitors have confirmed their participation. We also have 11 new exhibitors, confirming that the Midlands Show keeps getting bigger and better with the passing of each year.”

The show runs from 31 July to 4 August.

It will be held under the theme: “Entrepreneurship for Economic Recovery”.

Finance Minister, Patrick Chinamasa, will be the guest of honour.

Chikukwa said the show would kick off on Thursday.

“From Wednesday up to Friday, we will be holding meetings with our exhibitors. We will have the usual cattle show and this year, dairy cows will be on display as well. There will be a cattle sale on 31 July, the first day of the show,” she said.

On Friday, the Midlands Show will host a Business Conference, a new attraction introduced last year for the first time on the province’s agricultural show calendar.

Chikukwa said the show would be held at Fair Mile Hotel under the theme, “Creating an Enabling Economic Environment”.

“The business conference will start at 8AM. The show will be officially opened on Saturday by the guest of honour, Cde Patrick Chinamasa who is the Finance Minister. On Sunday we will have our star attraction on the entertainment menu – Jah Prayzah – to close this year’s event,” she said.

Chikukwa said the rest of the entertainment programme would feature the usual suspects; Luna Park, Police and Army Displays, BMX, soccer games and drum majorettes, among others.

She said there would be a women soccer game and a Division One League match (men’s).

“We are still to identify the teams to feature but we will have a women’s soccer match and a league match for men’s teams. The men’s game will be a serious league match where the winner will collect three points,” said Chikukwa.
